French, Graduate Certificate in Professional French Translation
The 12-credit Graduate Certificate in Professional French Translation prepares students for careers as qualified translators in such critical industry sectors as health, law, business, media and culture. The program trains students seeking to develop the professional skills needed for translating from English to French and vice versa. Our proximity to New York City and the metropolitan area’s vibrant pool of international industries, governmental organizations and media companies, among others, offers rich opportunities for professional networking and collaboration.
Admission is open to students who hold a bachelor’s degree and have completed at least 24 semester hours of undergraduate French or its equivalent. Students applying for admission must satisfy the standard University requirements for admission to graduate study.
Individuals holding the bachelor’s degree and showing an adequate proficiency in French may enroll in graduate courses, even though they do not wish to enter the Master of Arts program.
