Parlez-vous French like a pro? Our French master’s programs allow you to decide where your expertise of French language and culture will take you. Choose between two 30-credit programs: The French Studies Concentration, designed to prepare students for teaching and research in language and literature, or the Professional Translation Concentration, which trains students for careers as qualified translators in such critical industry sectors as health, law, business, media and culture. The program develops the professional skills necessary for translating from English to French and vice versa.

Both programs are open to anyone with a bachelor’s degree and at least 24 semester hours of undergraduate French.

Admission Requirements
- Equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree.
- Applicants with non-U.S. degrees: Please visit the international applicants page to review U.S. degree equivalency information.
- Admission is open to students who have completed at least 24 semester hours of undergraduate French or its equivalent. Individuals holding the bachelor’s degree and showing an adequate proficiency in French may enroll in graduate courses, even though they do not wish to enter the Master of Arts program.

Application Deadline: Rolling admission.
- Online Application: Submit application and $60 non-refundable fee (or waiver if applicable).
- Transcript: One from each college attended.
- Essays/Personal Statement:
- What are your goals for graduate study and your future career?
- In what ways do your academic background and your professional experiences provide evidence of your potential for success in the program you selected and in your eventual career?
- Please give specific examples of relevant coursework and/or experience.
- Is there any further information we should consider in assessing your candidacy?
- Letters of Recommendation: Two.
