December 2012: Senior Steve Dippel has been awarded the Johnson & Johnson Inc. Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association Paul Grace Scholarship Award. He was selected from a group of outstanding nominees. The $2500 scholarship will be presented at the EATA Annual Meeting in January in Buffalo.

 

October 2012: Dr. Marsha Grant-Ford (front row standing, on left) recently gave a presentation to the student athletic training organization at Western Illinois University.  She is pictured with student leaders and other organization members.

February 2012: The Athletic Training program congratulates its newest certified athletic trainers!

 
December 2011: The Athletic Training program congratulates its January 2012 graduates. Members of this cohort not only completed their requirements to earn the BS in Athletic Training, but they are the first class where all graduates passed the Board of Certification (BOC) exam on the first attempt. Congratulations to our newest certified athletic trainers!
 
June 2011: Nine students attended the National Athletic Trainers' Association annual meeting in New Orleans in June 2011. Prior to the meeting, the students, including Seth Wells, and Dr. Grant Ford participated in a Habitat for Humanity built in the Ninth Ward.
 
June 2011: Dr.Grant Ford was presented with the Bill Chisolm Professional Service Award by Ethnic Diversity Committee Chairman Keith Garnett during the National Athletic Trainers' Association annual meeting in New Orleans. In addition to the award, the organization presented her with a video tribute by former students, mentees, colleagues, and members of the Paterson Girl Scout troop she advises.
 
February 2011: Four members of the class of 2011 pass BOC Board Examination in the first attempt and will soon add the ATC credential to their names. Congratulations to the new certified athletic trainers Seth Wells, Anthony Andreadis, Dan Priest, and Justin Maher. Kelly Jurczynski from the class of 2010 joins them.
 

Montclair State University was well represented at the Athletic Trainers' Society of New Jersey (ATSNJ) awards ceremony. Justin Maher (left) was awarded the Richard Malacrea College Scholarship. Lindsey Davis (right), daughter of Head Athletic Trainer John Davis, was awarded the Victor Racine Memorial Scholarship Award, which is presented to the outstanding high school senior planning to study athletic training. Dr. David Middlemas (middle), Coordinator of the University's Athletic Training program, was presented with the Distinguished Service Award.

FEBRUARY 2011:
Athletic Training program student Cindy LaRosa represents Montclair State University at the prestigious NATA iLEAD conference in Washington DC. Read her comments in the April 2011 monthly news publication of the National Athletic Trainers' Association.

January 2008: Chris Meny, MS, ATC '06 (in sunglasses) joined the ATEP faculty as an adjunct (teaching freshmen Anatomy and Physiology).
 
April 2007: The Athletic Training Club hosted its first annual family barbeque on the Panzer 'veranda'. Family and friends gathered from all over the state. See the Photo Gallery for images.
 
April 2006: The freshmen cadaver lab moved to campus to the exercise science lab in University Hall.
 
 
February 2006: On February 27, 2006 the Athletic Trainers' Society of New Jersey awarded Head Athletic Trainer John Davis (center) its highest honor, induction into the ATSNJ Hall of Fame.
 
December 2006: The student Athletic Training Club is chartered by the SGA. The effort was spearheaded by Kaite Castellanos, the club's first president.
 
Fall 2006: Dr. Grant-Ford implemented the Peer Assisted Learning (PALS) program. Student team leaders (tutors) support first year students and help them navigate their first ATEP semester with an emphasis on Clinical Anatomy.
 
 
Fall 2005: A state of the art Biodex is purchased for the ATEP.

The MSU ATEP was awarded 5 year accreditation by CAAHEP in October of 2003!!!
On March 1,2004, family, friends, colleagues and alumni gathered at the Athletic Trainers' Society of New Jersey's (ATSNJ) 18th annual conference to witness a very surprised MSU head athletic trainer and ATEP clinical instructor John Davis receive the coveted Victor "Vito" Recine Distinguished Service Award for over 20 years of meritorious service to the profession. Congratulations John!!
 
March 2004: Sophomore Ike Spangler has been selected to an internship by the NY Giants as a direct result of his performance during his clinical rotation.
 
March 9, 2004: The ATEP celebrated National Athletic Training Month with the addition of gross anatomy cadaver laboratory experiences. In collaboration with Dr. Louis Rizio and Mike Prybicien, ATC of UMDNJ's New Jersey Medical School's Orthopaedic Research Laboratory. More photos appear in the Photo Gallery.
 
March 10, 2004: The ATEP announces that ATEP faculty members will be presenting original research at the National Athletic Trainers' Association annual meeting in Baltimore this year. Dr. Middlemas will be presenting a case study "Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in a Ten Year Old Soccer Player." Dr. Grant-Ford will be presenting "Culturally Competent Athletic Health Care."
