A Very Special Alumna Reflection

"The value of the education I received at Montclair State University is incredible. The comprehensive material presented by qualified, respected, intelligent, and diligent professors gave me a knowledge base which I was able to apply in my clinical rotations. These rotations gave me a chance to work with other very qualified instructors on the field. The experience at MSU has given me the ability to enter the profession of Athletic Training with the confidence and knowledge to succeed as a certified health care professional."

"I had the time of my life at Montclair State University. I was lucky enough to complete a very rewarding major in Athletic Training while still being able to pursue and incorporate other passions of mine into my college life. I was able to create Rhythm Nation Dance Club (MSU’s first ever Student Government Association undergraduate dance organization) which is still a thriving association on campus today. Because of my love of dance, I coupled that with Athletic Training and spent a semester as an intern at Radio City Music Hall with the Rockettes during their Christmas Spectacular Season. Along with being able to explore Athletic Training in a non-traditional setting in the Performing Arts field, I was able to learn from many dedicated and knowledgeable ATC’s at MSU and in other colleges, high schools, and physical therapist clinics. I am still dancing and will always be a part of Rhythm Nation and all of the knowledge I gained of Athletic Training and allied health at MSU allowed me to achieve a very successful position as a Territory Manager for EMPI Recovery Sciences."

"As an alumnus of MSU's Athletic Training Program, I can say that I have never felt more confident in anything I have done, than I do as an Athletic Trainer. The staff at MSU prepares you for anything that can come your way in this field (an as we all know, it usually does). The relationships you build there will carry on throughout your professional career, as well your personal life. MSU's staff has become a 2nd family to me. The program itself is truly one of the best, if not the best in New Jersey. Between the various clinical and internship positions and the classes, you are given every tool you need to succeed in this field."

"When people think that we are 'just' athletic trainers, they couldn't be more wrong. We are educators, and most importantly, role models, and can have an effect on people that you wouldn't even dream of. [I] Just wanted to say thanks for all the training and education because it paid off big time." "The best thing about the athletic training education at MSU was the feeling of respect, confidence, and accomplishment throughout my years in the program from John Davis, and the staff. I will always remember the 'teachable moments' that gave me the valuable experiences that I still use today to provide the best possible care for my athletes. I will always be grateful to MSU and John Davis for teaching me to be the best athletic trainer I can possibly be."

"The best thing about the MSU athletic training educational experience is the interaction between the staff and students. As a graduate student, I gained confidence while having the support I needed to further my education. John Davis has been an amazing teacher, mentor colleague and friend, and has made this program what it is today. MSU athletic training was a very important in my educational and overall life experience and I will forever recommend future students to the program!" |
