The Montclair State University Foundation, Inc. was created in 1960 by alumni, friends and officers of Montclair State.  The Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, charitable organization which raises, receives, manages and distributes funds for the benefit of Montclair State, thereby promoting, supporting and extending the public educational undertakings of the University.  In operation, the Montclair State University Foundation serves as the private gift procurement arm of the University with financial functions in both developmental and custodial areas. It administers all donations for the University’s benefit.  When gifts are received by specific University departments or units, they are forwarded to the Foundation for official acceptance and acknowledgment.

The Foundation manages endowment funds and serves in other fiduciary capacities involving capital gifts and gifts made through planned giving arrangements such as trusts and bequests.

The Board of Trustees of the Foundation, numbering approximately 25, is a group of recognized leaders and officials elected to manage the affairs of the Foundation.  Its members and officers bring a wide range of business and professional experience as well as a high degree of motivation and competence to their efforts on behalf of the advancement of the University.  Other members of the Board include the President of Montclair State, Vice President for University Advancement and a representative of the Board of Trustees of Montclair State.
