Teacher Education is housed in the Center of Pedagogy (COP), which is located on the lower level of Chapin. There is an Office of Teacher Education Admissions located on the first floor of Chapin Hall (Chapin 103, Ext. 7976). In addition, all fieldwork placements are made by the COP through the Office of the Assistant Director. The Director of Admissions and the Assistant Director of the COP report to the Director of the COP.
The COP coordinates teacher education student record maintenance and job placement opportunities, as well as national accreditation and state certification program approval processes.
A Teacher Education Policy Committee, composed of faculty and staff from all of the colleges within the university and administrators from partner schools districts meets monthly to review and set policy for all initial teacher certification programs.
The Curriculum Resource Center (Ext. 5220), also managed by the COP, is a specialized library and high tech media center for educators and contains a model classroom of the future. It is also located on the lower level of Chapin Hall.
