If you want to create classrooms where every student can succeed, Montclair’s MEd in Special Education will prepare you to be an expert advocate and instructional leader.

This 36-credit program is designed for certified teachers who want to expand their expertise in working with students with disabilities while earning both a certification and a master’s degree.

You’ll study assessment, instructional methods and behavior supports while exploring ways to design equitable learning environments that meet the needs of diverse learners.

Coursework covers advanced strategies for supporting students across disability categories, including approaches that build on individual strengths and foster independence. You’ll also learn how to collaborate effectively with families, colleagues and service providers to create comprehensive support systems.

With guidance from faculty who are experienced practitioners and researchers, you’ll apply what you learn through field-based experiences that connect theory to practice. The flexible format is designed with working teachers in mind, allowing you to continue making a difference in your classroom while earning your degree.

If you’re ready to take your teaching to the next level and broaden your impact, Montclair’s MEd in Special Education will give you the skills to lead with confidence and compassion. See the curriculum.
