Dr. Frederick Bonato Named Interim Dean

Dr. Frederick Bonato has been named the Interim Dean of the College for Community Health effective Monday, August 5.
Dr. Bonato joins us from Saint Peter’s University, where he most recently served as the Executive Vice President and Provost. During his tenure, he was instrumental in leading the development of numerous undergraduate and graduate programs. In that time, graduate student enrollment nearly doubled, overall enrollment was the highest it has been in 25 years, and Saint Peter’s saw its highest graduation rates.
Dr. Bonato is no stranger to Montclair State University and previously served as Associate Provost for Academic Affairs from 2013 – 2017. He played a pivotal role in health-related initiatives such as launching the School of Nursing and the Center for Clinical Services.
In addition to his administrative accomplishments, Dr. Bonato has an impressive editorial and leadership background. He previously served as President of the Eastern Psychological Association, where he continues to serve as an EPA Fellow. He was recently elected as Vice President for Education & Research for the Aerospace Medical Association, where he served for 14 years as the Editor-in-Chief of their official peer-reviewed journal, Aerospace Medicine and Human Performance. In 2015, he was elected to the International Academy of Aviation and Space Medicine.
Dr. Bonato is widely published in the aeromedical field on topics ranging from motion sickness to commercial spaceflight. He holds a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from Rutgers University.
