Michael Dixon

Michael is the assistant director for the Center of Teaching, Learning, and Technology at the University of Richmond, a private liberal arts university in Virginia. He supervises academic technology consultants (liaisons) in an effort to support faculty with instructional design, pedagogy consultations and assisting with the appropriate use of technology in teaching and learning. Michael also has multiple degrees in music theory/composition/music business and has taught face-to-face and online music courses for most of his career in academia, dating back to 1994. Michael also has an advanced degree in instructional design & technology, and developed expertise in online course design and instruction during his 21 years working at East Carolina University. His current interests are in developing students to become instructional consultants to faculty, providing a student perspective via course reviews. His Center is also involved in educational uses of AR and VR technologies, including less immersive but related technologies such as 360-degree videography and photography.
