Educational Foundations programs explore the role and purposes of education in American public life. Our undergraduate major is an interdisciplinary liberal arts degree that prepares students for a wide range of careers. This major may also be paired with the Elementary Education BA for students seeking teacher certification.
Overview
The Department of Educational Foundations offers courses that examine the role and influence of education across social, political, linguistic, and cultural contexts. The department empowers students to develop a sophisticated understanding of the relationship between education and culture. We provide tools of inquiry and democratic interaction that are applicable, not only within education but in professional and community settings as well.
Educational Foundations faculty consider mastery of critical, creative, and independent thinking and a deep understanding of the role of educational institutions in society to be crucial to the success of a democratic society.
Important Information for Students
