The Master of Science in Information Technology with a concentration in Applied Information Technology is an innovative graduate degree focused on the management and implementation of information technology to support today’s business, industry or government work environments.  Students will learn how communications, management, legal considerations and other desirable workplace skills are integrated with information technology to facilitate successful application of technology in any organization.

The 33-credit, 11 course Applied IT program is a nationally certified Professional Science Master’s (PSM) developed with the Science-Plus curricula which provides cutting-edge, career-based skills. During the program, students will complete seven courses in IT skills, modeled after the ACM and IEEE IT industry standards, three courses in highly sought after professional skills like communications, cyberlaw and IT project management, and an industry internship providing connections to potential employers.

Designed with convenience and flexibility in mind, students will complete all coursework online. The cohort-based program will allow students to network and build relationships with other professionals in the field, while learning from accomplished faculty.

“The Professional Science Master’s readies students for today’s workplace,” explains Dr. Katherine Herbert, professor in Montclair State’s Department of Computer Science and the program’s coordinator. “It gives students the unique opportunity to develop industry soft skills such as team building and leadership while strengthening their technical know-how.  The program is capped with a real world industry experience and the whole curriculum is designed to help aid students in pursing IT employment opportunities including IT project management.”

Next cohort begins January 2018. Learn more and apply by visiting http://www.montclair.edu/online/online-programs/information-technology-ms-psm/.
