Experience moving and making with our renowned Montclair State Dance Faculty! The Makers and Movers Summer Dance Intensive offers dancers the opportunity to build their technique with classes in contemporary, jazz, and West African dance, while also creating their own solo dance works and developing a group performance piece. In addition, students will have the opportunity to explore New York City, dance capitol of the world, on a one day field trip.
Dance is a powerful art form that encourages communication and helps us find our commonalities as well as celebrating uniqueness. This intensive highlights the collaborative nature of dance allowing you to make close connections with your peers and teachers as you explore moving and dance making.
During the week-long program, you will:
- Strengthen your dance technique
- Develop a creative idea into your own choreography
- Learn a piece with an established choreographer
- Explore NYC and see a show
- Put on a performance for parents, friends, and faculty
NOTE: participation in this program will count as a successful pre-screen that is part of the audition admission requirements for the BFA and BA in dance.
Makers and Movers: A Dance Intensive will run during Session I: Sunday, July 12 – Saturday, July 18, 2026. Apply Today!
