History
The study of history, an important part of a broad liberal education, helps to prepare students for careers in teaching, law, government service, politics, journalism and creative writing, library science, business research, and positions with local, state or national archives, museums and historical societies or restoration agencies. The department offers specialized study mainly in American, European, African, Asian, and Latin American history. History majors may adapt their programs to meet certification requirements for teaching social studies or elementary education in New Jersey schools. A minor in history is also offered.
