• Your resume
• Two letters of reference

• A Federal W4 tax document that you can print or get in the department office.
A New Jersey State W4 tax document that you can print or get at the department office.

It is vital that you submit all necessary paperwork in order to minimize delays in finalizing your appointment and to ensure that you will be paid in a timely fashion. Once all paperwork is submitted, paychecks will be issued and mailed every two weeks. Depending on the pay period, a partial payment may be given to you, followed by a supplementary check the next week to catch you up with the regular payment schedule.

Getting an E-mail Account
Getting an e-mail account is the first step in using other net-based systems available to instructors, for example Blackboard, web pages, etc. In order to obtain an email address account, all paperwork must be given to the department secretary. In turn, the secretary submits the paperwork to Human Resources who will review all documents for completeness. If all paperwork is in order, the appointee’s birth date is input to the system to establish an email account. The appointee can then go to the website listed below and follow the instructions provided to open an email account.
1. Create your NetID Account by completing the online Montclair State University NetID Account Form at http://netid.montclair.edu.
2. Your NetID Account will provide you with e-mail access.
Once your paperwork is completed, you can pick up a hang tag from the Montclair State University Parking Services Office at the front entrance to the Red Hawk Deck. You just need to give them your name and they will give you a form that asks for your license plate number and car make and model. You can get information on parking services, including the list of parking lots that are available to you here.
Student evaluations are distributed to the students in your class through BlackBoard. Electronic reporting of the student evaluations is sent to your department chair several months after the end of the course. You may obtain these evaluations from your department office.
The date of the submission of the final grades will be posted in the course schedule booklet for the semester, which may be found here. If the grades are not recorded on time, the students risk receiving an F in the course and the instructor is required to fill out a change of grade form for each student. Grades for the Fall semester are due at the end of December. The exact due date will be distributed by the department chair along with web grading instructions at Thanksgiving.

Each floor in Dickson Hall has a mail/copy room. Instructors are issued individual copy cards for course needs. These cards are paid for by the Linguistics Department and distributed by the department secretary. There is a finite number of copies per card. Please limit copying because of budgetary restraints and use the Ricoh machine, which does not require a card, for 20 copies or more per original. For problems and/or paper, call the CHSS Tech Team at ext. 7835.
- Use only for fewer than 20 copies of the original
- place copy card in meter before using the Canon copier
- follow Canon instructions
- press end button on meter to remove copy card
- no card is necessary
- obtain access number from department secretary
- must make a minimum of 20 copies per master copy
Adjunct professors are observed in their teaching once a year, either by the chair of the department or a designated representative. You will be notified of the observation and asked for appropriate times for the observation. It is helpful if you provide an outline of the class to the observer beforehand or when they enter the class.
