Montclair State University recently celebrated the Fourth Annual National Day of Service, honoring the heroes of 9/11. All students, faculty, staff, and alumni were invited to participate on September 8. The Montclair State community came together to lend a helping hand in local communities, including Montclair, Clifton, Jersey City, Hillside, Paterson, Little Falls, and Bloomfield.
The service day began with all participants meeting in the Student Center Cafeteria for an introduction and welcome. Participants then headed out to the various service sites and projects in the area to serve and show their support to the community and the many heroes who lost their lives.
Nearly 300 students, faculty, alumni, and their guests participated in fourteen service projects. Of those projects, alumni participated in such on-campus projects including a Municipal Car Wash and Campus Clean Up, and such off-campus sites as the Montclair Animal Shelter, CUMAC Food Pantry, and Clifton School Restoration. Montclair State was proud to partner with the community. Together we CAN make a difference.
Those in attendance included Recent Alumni Network Committee member Melissa DeFeo ’06 and Student Alumni Council member Roshani Giri, expected to graduate this Spring with her MBA.
