Montclair, NJ (5/21/09) – Senior attack Mary Kate DiBenedetto (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) and sophomore Kristin Quigley (Mount Laurel, NJ / Lenape) each earned All-Region honors on Thursday as the two were named to the IWLCA Boardwalk All-Region Second Team.
The awards cap off outstanding season for the two players, who were
both named First Team in both the Skyline and New Jersey Athletic
Conferences.
DiBendetto, who earned her All-Region honors,
closed out one of the finest careers in Montclair State history as she
led the Red Hawks in nearly every category, including goals (45),
assists (40) and points (85) while also collecting a team-best 53
ground balls in addition to 37 draws and 19 caused turnovers. She
became just the third player in school history to record 100 goals and
100 assists in a career as she finished fourth all-time with 229
points. She totaled 129 goals (sixth all-time at MSU) and ended her
career fourth all-time in ground balls (153), third in draws (109) and
fifth in caused turnovers (56). Sheis the NJAC and Skyline leader in
assists and points per game and was second in ground balls, fifth in
goals, ninth in draw controls and 10th in caused turnovers.
Quigley recorded 36 ground balls and led the team with 26 caused
turnovers as she anchored a Montclair State defense posted a pair of
shutouts this season. She ranked eigith in the NJAC in ground balls and
was third in caused turnovers.
