LGBTQA Community Rallies for Peace

Rally held to promote love

On Wednesday October 28, 2009, SPECTRUMS along with the LGBT Center hosted a Rally for Peace in response to the bias crimes that occurred on campus. Students, faculty, staff, the LGBT community and Allies gathered in the Quad to promote love and to spread awareness. The rally featured speakers such as Jhon Velasco, Associate Director of Equity and Diversity; Reverend Charlie Ortman of the Unitarian Church of Montclair; Dean James Harris, and many more.

Following the speeches, participants observed a moment of silence to remember those lost to hate crimes and proceeded to march around campus spreading messages of love. The rally was a huge success! Check out some pictures from the rally in the media set of this article.
