DiPaolo, Murphy Earn NJAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

Montclair, NJ (11/02/09) – Senior forward Justine DiPaolo (Lanoka Harbor, NJ / Lacey) and junior Jessica Murphy (West Long Branch, NJ / Shore Regional) each received honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference on Monday as the two were named the league's Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

DiPaolo becomes the second different Red Hawk to earn NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after tallying seven points in a pair of NJAC victories during the week for Montclair State. She opened the week by registering a goal and two assists for four points in MSU”s 3-1 NJAC victory over Ramapo. Three days later, she posted a goal and an assist for three points in the Red Hawks’ 6-1 NJAC win over rival William Paterson.

DiPaolo currently ranks tied for fifth in the NJAC in total assists with five on the season.

Murphy becomes the third different Red Hawk to earn NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after contributing both defensively and offensively in a pair of NJAC wins for MSU. She opened the week by helping to hold the Roadrunners to just one goal in MSU’s 3-1 NJAC victory over Ramapo. Three days later, she helped limit the Pioneers to only three shots while collecting a goal and an assist offensively in a 6-1 NJAC win over rival William Paterson.

Murphy is part of a Red Hawk defense which currently leads the NJAC in team goals against average (1.16).
