Chris Lee (Morris Plains, NJ / Parsippany Hills) and Nikolas Lumkong (Morristown, NJ / Morristown) each had a win and helped the 200 medley relay team victory as the Red Hawks squared their record at 5-5 on the season.
Lee and Lumkong teamed with Sean Chambrovich (Allenhurst, NJ / Red Bank Regional) and Thomas Long as the quartet got the Red Hawks off to a fast start with a win in the 200 medley relay as they posted a time of 1:43.14.
Smith would lead a 1-2-3 MSU finish in the 1000 freestyle as he recorded a winning time of 10:52.84. Matt Hyde (Clifton, NJ / Clifton) was second (11:05.03) with Daniel Gordon (Northfield, NJ / Mainland Regional) coming in third at 11:34.07.
Westerberg,
the NJAC Rookie of the Week, picked up his first victory of the meet in
the 200 freestyle as he touched in at 1:51.68. Senior Blaise Lacca (Sewell, NJ / Washington Township) was
second at 1:53.83, the first of three second-place showings on the
evening (50 freestyle at 23.14 and 100 freestyle at 51.40).
Long won the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.06 and Westerberg made it
2-for-2 in individual events as he led another Top 3 sweep by MSU.
Westerberg went 50.20 to win the 100 freestyle. Lacca was second
followed by Smith (52.17).
Lee would be victorious in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.70) with Smith
capturing the 500 freestyle as he clocked in at 5:07.28 to win the both
long-distance freestyle events. Lumkong was the final winner for
Montclair as he took first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.56.
Montclair State is now off and returns to action along with the women’s squad on Saturday, February 6 when they host William Paterson in the final dual meet of the season at the Panzer Pool beginning at 1:00 pm.
