Brown, Asimou Collect NJAC Men's Indoor Track Weekly Honors

Montclair, NJ (2/8/10) – Senior Eugene Asimou (Livingston, NJ / Livingston) and junior Will Brown (Gloucester, NJ / Palmyra) were each honored by the New Jersey Athletic Conference on Monday as the duo were named the Fiel and Track Athletes of the Week, respectively.

Asimou earns NJAC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honors for the third consecutive week after participating in a pair of competitions for MSU. He first competed at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the New York Armory, producing a 15th place showing in a field of 35 competitors in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying throw of 15.92 meters. Two days later, he travelled to East Stroudsburg University to compete in the DeSchriver Invitational where he placed first in a field of 31 competitors in the shot put with the top throw in Division III this season - a school and meet-record mark of 17.18 meters. Asimou also placed eighth in a field of 26 competitors in the weight throw with a toss of 14.58 meters.

Brown earns NJAC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors after competing in a pair of competitions during the week for the Red Hawks. He first traveled to Manhattan where he placed 18th in a field of 36 competitors in the 60 meter hurdles at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational with a NCAA automatic qualifying time of 8.11. Two days later, Brown travelled to East Stroudsburg University to compete at the DeSchriver Invitational, placing second in a field of 39 competitors in the 55 meter hurdles with an ECAC qualifying time of 7.60.
