Junior Will Brown (Gloucester, NJ / Palmyra) and senior Adenford Jean-Philippe (Irvington, NJ / Irvington) each put up NCAA provisional marks in the 60 meter hurdles as they finished fourth and fifth, respectively in the event. Brown blazed to a time of 8.32 and Jean-Philippe 8.42 during the preliminaries however the two went faster in the finals. Brown posted a time of 8.17 seconds, just missing the automatic mark while Jean-Philippe ran 8.24 seconds as they surpassed the qualifying mark of 8.33 seconds.
Jarman Esperance (Nyack, NY / Nyack) was seventh in the event as he clocked in at 8.60 seconds with Tim Lynch (Bayville, NJ / Monsignor Donovan) running 8.90 seconds.
Terea Hargrove (Springfield, NJ / Jonathan Dayton) posted a pair of Top 4 finishes as he was third in the triple jump at 13.34 meters and fourth in the long jump (6.36 meters). Jon Tancer (Montville, NJ / Montville) placed third in the shot put at 14.44 meters while Terry Iavarone (North Arlington, NJ / North Arlington) ran 2:02.56 in the 800 meters to place fifth in his meet. Eric Gershey (Parsippany, NJ / Parsippany Hills) posted a time of 55.59 in the 400 meters.
The Montclair State indoor season will conclude this weekend at the NCAA Division III Championships held at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana March 12-13. The Red Hawks are sending two competitors in Brown (55 meter hurdles) and senior shot putter Eugene Asimou (Livingston, NJ / Livingston).
Brown is the defending national champion and currently boasts the fourth-best time in Division III this season at 7.45 seconds. Asimou is second on the shot put list at 17.18 meters, a mark he reached at the DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg on February 7. Jean-Philippe could also be headed to the championship meet as well as he currently sits 12th on the list for the 55 meter hurdles.
