Men's Basketball Flies Past PSU Mont Alto in Doc Greene Invitational

Huntingdon, PA (11/20/10) – Junior forward Andrew August (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan) scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Montclair State bounced back from its one-point loss on Friday evening to defeat Penn State Mont Alto in the consolation game of the Doc Greene Invitational at Juniata College on Saturday afternoon.

Senior guard Rodney Freeney (Piscataway, NJ / Piscataway) added 14 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals as the Red Hawks evened their record at 1-1 with the victory. August was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Red Hawks shots a sizzling 58 percent (23-of-40) from the field in the first half as August scored 12 points and Freeney nine as Montclair State took a 51-30 lead at the half. Junior Chris Vitulano (Glen Ridge, NJ / Glen Ridge) added seven points in the first half. Montclair broke the game open with a 12-0 run midway through the period taking a 25-13 advantage with 11:03 to play.

Anthony Larkin (Passaic, NJ / St. Mary's (Rutherford)) had 10 points for MSU with Tyrone Prewitt (Trenton, NJ / Trenton) adding nine points and five rebounds off the bench.

Montclair State is back in action on Tuesday, November 23 when they host Berkeley College at the Panzer Athletic Center beginning at 8:00 pm.
