Graduate study tends to be different from undergraduate work. It is often more rigorous and solitary, and students are expected to be self-motivated. New graduate students are strongly encouraged to attend the Graduate Student Orientation program, which takes place before the start of each semester. Orientation will not only provide the tools to succeed academically, but also make connections to valuable support services on campus and to fellow graduate students.
This orientation provides a general University-wide view of the campus and graduate school. It is designed to augment what departments may already do with their students. We encourage students to attend both this general orientation and any departmental specific orientation to gain the most benefit in making the transition to graduate study.
