This Wednesday was win and you’re in the Finals, in the Intramural Basketball leagues and the players definitely brought the intensity. With a chance at the title on the line, we saw several outstanding performances and hard fought games. The first of the night was the Men’s A semi-final between the Ivy League and the Football Squad. The game was physical throughout, but the favored Ivy League managed to sneak away in the end with a 62-57 victory. The Ivy League were led by Richard Brown and Kenneth Dudley, scoring 16 and 12 respectively. Eddie Kirschenbaum carried the way for the Football Squad with 16 of his own. The Ivy League will go on to play the Raw Dogs at 10pm this Sunday.
In the other eight o’clock match the Coyotes and the Commanders squared off for a chance to face the Lady Agents in the Finals. The question coming into the game was, will anyone be able to slow down Shenya Murphy? The answer was a resounding no, as Murphy went off again for 26 points in a blowout victory for the Commanders. Jennie Murphy added 10 of her own as the Commanders rolled to a 40-10 victory. They will play the Lady Agents at 8pm this Sunday.
In our two Men’s B games the Condors and Waste Management paired up for the right to take on the winner of the Lansers and Score-gazims game. First off was Waste Management and their attempt to contain the red hot Dan Watts of the Condors. Waste Management set the tone early with hard-nosed defense and kept it up the entire game as they rolled to a 47-30 win. Salim Laib and Jermaine Terrell each scored 11 in the win. CJ Adams also contributed 11, getting to the free throw line often and converting 8 of 11 attempts. Watts played a great all-around game and managed 14 in the losing effort.
In the other matchup the top seeded Lansers took on improbable semi-finalists Score-gazims. The twelfth seeded Score-gazims put up a good fight, but the Lansers were too much in the end, winning comfortably 45-34. Mike Krol dropped 13, while William O’Connor added 10. Waste Management and the Lansers will face off Sunday at 7pm.
Also advancing Wednesday was the 40/40 Club. They will face Ball ‘Til We Fall Sunday at 9pm.
