MSU Fall Teams Playing for Charity

Montclair, NJ (9/20/11) – The Montclair State Athletic Department is playing for charity. Each sport throughout the year will conduct one charity game in which proceeds from the contest is donated to that team’s respective cause.

The year-long community service initiative begins on Thursday, September 29 when the MSU volleyball teams takes on Ramapo College in the Panzer Athletic Center at 7:00 pm. It will be “Dig for the Cure” as donations for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure fund. The Red Hawk field hockey team will contribute to the same cause when they face William Paterson University on October 27 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

On Saturday, October 15, women’s soccer and football will be conducting their charity contests. The Red Hawks women’s team will face New Jersey City at MSU Soccer Park with proceeds benefiting the Pancreatic Action Network. Later that evening, the football squad battle William Paterson on the field and the fight against cancer off it as they continue their “Keep Pounding” mission to benefit Sam Mills’ Fund of the same name at the Carolinas Medical Center.

Men’s soccer takes on Muhlenberg College on Wednesday, October 19 raising awareness for Pediatric Cancer. The Red Hawks will donate their proceeds to The Cure Starts Now Foundation.
