East Stroudsburg, PA (2/4/12) – Junior Niyi Adenugba (North Brunswick, NJ / North Brunswick) and freshman Emmet Mather (Lake Como, NJ / Manasquan)
each posted two Top 10 finishes highlighting Montclair State’s
appearance in the DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg
University on Saturday.
Senior Jon Tancer (Montville, NJ / Montville) placed third in the shot put as the Red Hawks recorded 12 Top 10 finishes overall in the meet.
Adenugba placed third in the high jumped as he leaped 1.88 meters
(6-feet, 2-inches) while Mather placed ninth in the even with a best
jump of 1.73 meters (5-feet, 8-inches). Both would place fourth
different events as Adenugba finished fourth in the 55 hurdles running a
time of 8.10 seconds. Mather would do it in the long jump with a leap
of 6.40 meters (21-feet).
Daniel Woods (Plainfield, NJ / Plainfield) finished fourth in the 55 meters with freshmen Rodney Copeland (Toms River, NJ / Manchester) and Nichols Kral (Randolph, NJ / Randolph) finished seventh and eighth, respectively in the 800 meters with times of 2:01.63 and 2:01.74.
Tancer threw a best distance of 14.62 meters (47-feet, 11.75-inches) in
his finish in the shot put and the Red Hawks’ 4x400 relay team of
Copeland, Eric Gershey (Boonton, NJ / Parsippany Hills), Kral and Jonathan Feigin (Sewell, NJ / Washington Township).
Gershey and Woods then teamed with Ahmier Dupree (Lakewood, NJ / Lakewood) and Ian Poinsett (Salem, NJ / Salem), who was 10th in the 400 meters (52.52), to take eighth in the 4x200 relay (1:35.92). Andrew Florez (Hoboken, NJ / Eastern Christian) was seventh in the pole vault with a top height of 3.09 meters (13-feet, 1-inch).
The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, February 11 when they take
part in the CTC Indoor Championships at Wesleyan University in
Middletown, CT.
