Consultation and Professional Development

Consultation and Professional Development on Autism Spectrum Disorder

Center staff and Affiliate Faculty Members offer consultation services, seminars, workshops and training sessions for schools, community agencies, health care facilities and other organizations regarding Autism Spectrum Disorder. The shift towards an inclusive, multidisciplinary approach to the assessment and treatment of persons with autism requires that professional development programs provide current and comprehensive training and consultation services to meet these needs. The Center provides educators, clinicians and other professionals with the insights and skills to use a more complete, integrated and inclusive approach to helping persons with autism and their families.

Consultation and Professional Development on Social-Emotional Learning and Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health

The inclusion of social-emotional learning curricula in the classroom is emerging as beneficial and essential to creating a positive school community. The Center’s infant and early childhood mental health consultation and professional development services are organized around three central themes:

  1. Integrating infant, child and family mental health principles into the nature of all services
  2. Enhancing an understanding of “relationship-based” services as critical to all professional developmental, caregiving, educational and therapeutic services
  3. Promoting the importance of “reflective practices” in all services

The Center staff and Affiliate Faculty Members offer a variety of seminars, workshops and training sessions around infant and early childhood mental health for educators, administrators and allied educational and therapeutic professionals, including psychologists, counselors, and social workers.
