Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSND) was established in 1969, as the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology. From 1969 to the present, the Department has developed and offered programs that reflect growth, specialization, and commitment to helping professionals and individuals with speech, language, and hearing disorders. The Department's programs are designed to provide basic and advanced professional preparation, with a strong commitment to theoretical and research foundations of clinical intervention. The Department offers a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and doctoral degrees in Audiology.


Accreditation

The Clinical Doctoral program in Audiology (AuD) and the Master of Arts (MA) program in Speech-Language Pathology at Montclair State University are accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700.


Mission

The mission of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is to prepare students to be audiologists and speech-language pathologists who will be successful practitioners in their disciplines and meet requirements for certification and licensure.


Admissions

Applications can be obtained from and are initially processed by the The Graduate School. After your application is complete, the Graduate School forwards it to the department for consideration for admission. The deadlines for application are:

  • Audiology - February 15 or until class is filled
  • Speech-Language Pathology - March 1
