Student Submissions

Student-led research projects must be conducted under the supervision of a faculty sponsor who serves as the Principal Investigator (PI). Only full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty and eligible full-time professional staff may serve as Principal Investigators on compliance protocols. Every project, both faculty-led and student-led, must have a primary contact. Please see below for the steps for initiating protocol applications and designating primary contacts for student-led and faculty-led projects.

Student-Led Research Project:

  1. Attend Cayuse IRB Training (not mandatory)
  2. Start IRB process- Choose “New Study”, enter study title –  Preface title with “SS” (e.g., “SS Word Play in Child Development”)
  3. Click on “New Submission”, choose “Initial” from the drop-down menu
  4. Address the first question in the Personnel section:
    1. Click on Student
    2. Designate degree program
    3. List your faculty sponsor as Principle Investigator
    4. List yourself as Primary Contact

Student as Primary Contact for Faculty/Staff-Led Research Project:

  1. Start IRB Process- Choose “New Study” and enter study title
  2. Click on “New Submission” and choose “Initial” from the drop-down menu
  3. Address the first question in the Personnel section:
    1. Click on Faculty or Staff
    2. List your Faculty/Staff member as Principal Investigator
    3. List yourself as Primary Contact
