MSU John J. Cali School of Music Celebrates Moscow Conservatory's 140th Anniv.

The Montclair State University John J. Cali School of Music was among a small group of music academies and conservatories from around the world invited to participate in the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the founding of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music. Montclair State President Susan A. Cole joined representatives from the Russian Government and leading conservatories from Europe and Asia in honoring the music institution.

"The language of music is a universal language, as is devotion to teaching and passing on to new generations the knowledge and great traditions of the past. We share this language and this commitment with the Moscow Conservatory, "said Dr. Cole in her formal remarks at the official opening of the week-long anniversary festivities.

Dr. Cole noted that Montclair State University’s music faculty and students have benefited from the greatness that the Conservatory has contributed to the world, and the Cali School’s partnership with one of the world’s foremost conservatories is evidence of the quality of the university’s music program.

The University’s relationship with the Moscow Conservatory was established in 2002 and the John J. Cali School of Music is the only American university to have a semester-long and full year study abroad program at the Conservatory. Through this rigorous academic program, Cali School students receive highly professional artistic training by world famous professional composers, artists and scholars.
