On July 23 three audiology doctoral students in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders participated in hearing screenings for the students of the Horizon Lower School in Livingston, NJ. The Horizon School is part of Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey and serves students ages 3-13 with multiple disabilities from throughout the state. Our students were able to assist their staff in otoscopic exams, tympanometry and otoacoustic emissions testing. In addition we were able to help the staff become more familiar with their OAE equipment and give them tips on future screenings. We are pleased to be able to arrange to return to the school in the Spring to assist with additional testing as needed, with Fredi Jarmel, AuD Audiology Clinic Director.
