LGBTQ Alumni Network and HomeCOMING OUT

In 2009, Montclair State University established a gender and sexuality center to support the needs of students, faculty, and staff. Charged with a mission to create a campus environment inclusive and supportive of all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) Center focuses on the unique academic, cultural, and social needs of LGBTQ students. The LGBTQ Center strives to enhance these students' learning and engagement in the academic process through education, advocacy, and support for the campus community. It advises LGBTQ student organizations, hosts a variety of discussion and support groups, and offers numerous programs and resources. Now, with the recent appointment of new Coordinator, Brian Edwards, the Center is expanding its services and is committed to engaging LGBTQ and allied (LGBTQA) Montclair State alumni starting this fall.

“One of the Center’s objectives this term is to engage our LGBTQA alumni so that we can better support their needs. I look forward to working closely with alumni to improve the campus climate here at Montclair State,” stated Edwards, who cited mentoring, social activities, networking opportunities, and philanthropic support as some of the ways to accomplish this goal.

HomeCOMING OUT
