Montclair State University student Margaret Ochner (Political Science and Jurisprudence) was selected to participate in the Virtual Student Foreign Service Internship with the U.S. State Department.

Margaret was a student in the class POLS416: US in the World: Turkey, Europe, and the Middle East. The class was a groundbreaking initiative between Montclair State University, Bilkent University, Turkey and the U.S. Department of State to create the first-ever interactive classroom partnership with State DepartmentÂ’s Virtual Student Foreign Service.  More on the class can be found at http://www.montclair.edu/news/article.php?ArticleID=11111&ChannelID=7

Announced by former Secretary Clinton in 2009, the Virtual Student Foreign Service is part of an effort by the State Department to harness technology and a commitment to global service among young people to facilitate new forms of diplomatic engagement.

This is highly competitive internship-- 2630 applications have been received for the 276 projects posted this year.
