Montclair State University’s men’s and women’s soccer teams each won twice over the weekend of November 16 and 17 to move on to the Sweet Sixteen in their respective NCAA Championship Tournaments.
After defeating Colby-Sawyer College 1-0 on November 16, the women’s soccer team powered past Bowdoin College 7-0 the next day in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship to advance to the NCAA Sectional Tournament for the first time in program history.
The Red Hawks (20-0-1) will face the Trinity University (TX) Tigers (22-0-2) in San Antonio on November 22 at 6:00 p.m. EST. Emory University and Wheaton College (IL) are the two other teams competing in the Sectional Tournament.

On November 16, the men’s soccer team beat Misericordia on penalty kicks, then defeated 12th-ranked Carnegie-Mellon the following day to clinch a spot in the NCAA Sectional Tournament for the third consecutive year and the sixth time overall.
The Red Hawks (16-3-3) will take on the University of Rochester (15-2-2) on November 23 on the campus of Rutgers-Camden. Rutgers-Camden faces York College (PA) in the other contest in the sectionals on November 24.
