International teacher education scholar, Diane Mayer from Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia, will join us for an informal conversation about her research regarding the relationships among teacher education programs, school contexts, retention, and new teachers’ sense of professional preparation during the first three years of their careers.
With over twenty years of experience in leadership positions at higher education institutions around the world, Dr. Mayer focuses her scholarly time examining issues associated with the professionalism of teaching and the policies and practices of teachers beginning a career in education. Dr. Mayer is a board member of Footscray Community Arts Centre and an editor for Teaching Education (Routledge). Additionally, she is an international editorial board member for the Journal of Education for Teaching: International research and pedagogy, and Teachers and Teaching: Theory and Practice. Dr. Mayer is a member of many world renowned professional organizations, including the American Educational Research Association, the International Study Association of Teachers and Teaching, and the Australian Association for Research in Education.
