The Graduate School Holds Convocation Ceremony

Montclair State University’s Graduate School held its Convocation ceremony on Tuesday, May 20 at the University’s Sprague Field. Many of the family and friends of the 1,172 candidates slated to receive master’s or doctoral degrees from the School were in attendance.

Richard A. Volkert ’84 MA, a research scientist at the New Jersey Geological and Water Survey, was presented with the Distinguished Alumni Award and delivered the keynote address.

Also speaking were President Susan A. Cole, who offered words of greeting and encouragement, and Graduate School Dean Joan C. Ficke, who presided over the ceremony and made closing remarks.

The candidates’ degrees will be conferred at the 2014 Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 23 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
