The John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University presents a weekend of music from November 2nd to November 4th featuring the MSU Symphony Orchestra; MSU Wind Symphony and University Singers and the MSU Symphonic Band. These exciting concert events take place in the Alexander Kasser Theater and all performances are $15.
MSU Symphony Orchestra – Under the baton of conductor Paul Hostetter, the MSU Symphony Orchestra begins its season with a program that includes Honegger’s Pacific 231, Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra in F by Weber and Symphony No. 1 in C minor by Brahms. This performance takes place on Friday, November 2nd at 7:30pm.
MSU Wind Symphony and University Singers – This evening of eclectic arrangements of works created for choir, large wind ensemble and wind ensemble with choir takes place on Saturday, November 3rd at 8pm. The MSU Wind Symphony is under the direction of Thomas McCauley and Heather J. Buchanan directs the renowned University Singers. Repertoire for this performance includes works by Arvo Pärt, Dominick Argento and Irving Berlin.
MSU Symphonic Band- On Sunday, November 4th at 3pm, the MSU Symphonic Band, under the direction of Thomas McCauley, is joined by Montclair’s Brookside Middle School’s Senior Band in an afternoon of music arranged for symphonic band. Repertoire for this performance includes works by Holst, Vaughan Williams and Arnold.
