Rookie attacker Kayla Henderson (Landing, NJ) put five goals in the net for the Red Hawks as Montclair moved to 5-6 overall and 4-0 in the Skyline Conference while the Roadrunners fall to 1-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Henderson opened the scoring just under five minutes into the game when she connected with Marykate DiBenedetto (Cinnaminson, NJ) taking a 1-0 lead over Ramapo. Bethany Blaine (Moorestown, NJ) posted back-to-back goals with 24:15 and 22:17 left in the half from Morgan MacPhee (Toms River, NJ) and DiBenedetto respectively to go up three. Jamie
Hudacko (Montville, NJ) posted an unassisted goal and Henderson
followed with her second of the game to take a 5-0 edge with 21 minutes
to play in the first half.
DiBenedetto dished a ball to Nicole Roselle (Pine Brook, NJ), and dished a second ball to Henderson, before Kate Barrie (Marlton, NJ) and Lauren Adams (Jackson, NJ) ripped shots past the Ramapo goalkeeper to take a 9-0 advantage. Henderson closed out the half with two more goals to help the Red Hawks to an 11-0 halftime lead.
In the second half of play, DiBenedetto put in two and Barrie, Rebekah Crane (Oak Ridge, NJ),
and Roselle each added one before Ramapo’s Eveline Rutledge
(Plainsboro, NJ) spoiled the shut out with her 14th goal of the year
with 4:37 remaining in the game. Blaine closed out the day with a final goal at 3:49 for the 17-1 Montclair victory.
The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, April 19 as Montclair hosts Rowan University in a 1:00 pm matchup at Sprague Field.
