Much has been written about the globalization of the world's economies, but to many people the concept remains abstract. How will the rising influence of countries such as China impact our lives here in the Garden State? What can we learn from Eastern cultures and what can we offer in return? NJN Public Television invites viewers to discover the special relationship between Montclair State University and two Eastern universities with Education Exchange: MSU Goes to China. The special will air on NJN on Saturday, October 21 at 7:30 a.m., with an encore on Thursday, October 26 at 10:30 p.m.
Education Exchange details the cultural exchange that is emerging from MSU's global education center, which was created to send Montclair students to other countries, and to bring students from around the world to Montclair's New Jersey campus. The program documents MSU's most recent trip to China where a historical linkage agreement was signed with Shanghai University and Nanjing University, under the stewardship of MSU President Dr. Susan A. Cole.
In addition, the half-hour special discusses both the Chinese and American systems of higher education and their hopes and challenges in preparing for a high-tech future, and provides an in-depth look at Chinese and American efforts to establish more cooperative relationships.
