MSU football captures NJ Athletic Conference Championship

Red Hawks Headed to NCAA Division III Playoffs for Second Straight Year.

Junior quarterback Ed Collins scored on a one-yard sneak with 2:47 to play as Montclair State captured its second straight New Jersey Athletic Conference title with a 17-13 victory over Rowan before a boisterous crowd of 3,187 at Sprague Field.

Collins, who scored on a similar play in last year's title clinching victory, helped the Red Hawks (7-2, 6-0) win their 16th NJAC title. With the win, MSU is now headed to the NCAA Division III Playoffs for the second straight year. Last year, Montclair State advanced to the quarterfinals where they were knocked out by Rowan. It is the first time the Red Hawks, who have won 11 consecutive conference games, will make back-to-back appearances in the NCAA's since 1985-86.
