The Shanghai Quartet, the
Ensemble-in-Residence at Montclair State University, as well as visiting
professors at the Shanghai Conservatory and the Central Conservatory in China,
presents a program featuring: Quintet for Strings No. 2 in G major, Op. 111 and
Quartet in A minor, Op. 51, No. 2 (Brahms) and Quartettsatz
(Schubert) on Sunday, September 28 at 3:00 p.m. at the Alexander Kasser Theater.

Cynthia Phelps, principal violist of the New York Philharmonic joins the
Shanghai Quartet as part of the Brahms Quintet for Strings No. 2 in G Major.
One of the world’s premiere ensembles, the Shanghai Quartet was formed in
Shanghai over 25 years ago and is known for passionate musicality, astounding
technique and multicultural innovations.
