The victory marked nine straight wins for the Ospreys as they advanced to their second consecutive NJAC title game on Saturday.
Mancini got the Ospreys off to an early 1-0 lead just 41 seconds into the game as she cleaned up a loose ball in front of the net. After an unsuccessful pass, the ball bounced off a Montclair defender and skipped right back to Mancini, who shot it past keeper Leah Tepperman ( North Andover, MA/ North Andover) for the goal.
The Red Hawks evened the score at 1-1 in the 20th minute when Katie Minervini (Oceanport/ Shore Regional) sent a floating shot on goal that sneaked over the head of Stockton keeper Alex Rogers (Medford/Shawnee).
Just before halftime, Stockton took the lead for good when Ashley Goodsell (Southampton/ Seneca) notched her second tally of the season. The play was set up by Amanda Altman (Beachwood/Toms River South) who sent a perfect pass from the right wing to the foot of Goodsell, who slipped the ball past Tepperman to give the Ospreys a 2-1 halftime lead.
In the second half, Mancini tallied her second goal of the game in the 49th minute, chipping a shot over the head of Tepperman from just outside the box for a 3-1 Stockton lead. Rogersmade two saves for Stockton in the game. Tepperman tallied three saves for Montclair State.
THe Red Hawks will now wait to see if they are selected to the ECAC Division III Metro Tournament which gets underway on Wednesday, November 12. The field for the eight-team tournament will be announced on Monday, November 10.
