Montclair, NJ (3/3/09) – Junior defender Patrick Ferry (Clifton, NJ / Clifton) and freshman Tyler Meth (Basking Ridge, NJ / Ridge) earned
Player and Rookie of the Week honors respectively as the Skyline
Conference handed out its first weekly honors of the season on Tuesday.
Both have helped Montclair State get off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2004.
In addition to leading a defense that yielded a
total of 10 goals in two games, Ferry contributed a goal, two assists, five
ground balls and five caused turnovers. He notched his first career goal,
scoring the game-winner with two minutes left as the Red Hawks rallied
from a two-goal deficit in the final five minutes in a 7-6 win over
Hartwick. In the season opener, he assisted on two goals in a 19-4 win
at Moravian.
Meth got off to an oustanding start in his first two
collegiate games for MSU, accumulating 10 points on eight
goals and two assists. In his collegiate debut, Meth scored five goals and
assisted on another while collecting four ground balls in a 19-4 win over
Moravian. He had three goals in a 7-6 win over Hartwick, including two in
a span of 58 seconds that tied the game at 6-6 with four minutes left.
