Hagel Selected NJAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week

Montclair, NJ (9/28/09) – Junior forward Deana Hagel (Fairfield, NJ / West Essex) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Hagel becomes the third different Red Hawks to garner a weekly honor from the league.

Goalkeeper Megan Bosland (Boonton, NJ / Boonton) was named the Rookie of the Week on September 7 while Melissa Buttray (Boonton, NJ / Boonton) was chosen Defensive Player of the Week last Monday.

Hagel earns NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after tallying four points in a 1-1 week of play for the Red Hawks. She opened the week by scoring a goal in Montclair State’s 3-0 non-conference victory over Drew. Three days later, she netted the first of MSU’s two first-half goals in a 3-2 NJAC road loss at Rowan. Hagel currently ranks tied for second in the NJAC in assists with four on the season.
