Wilkes-Barre, PA (10/10/09) - Junior forward Deana Hagel (Fairfield, NJ / West Essex)
scored two goals to lead Montclair State University field hockey team
to a 4-1 victory over host King’s College in a non-conference game on
Saturday.
With the loss King’s falls to 8-5 while Montclair State improved to 8-4 with its second straight win.
The Monarchs would score the first goal of the game in the two-minute
mark, when Jenera Quinones would finish a feed from Shawna Walp.
Montclair would make it a 1-1 score when Hagel would connect off of a
feed from Melissa Buttray (Boonton, NJ / Boonton).
Montclair State would only add on to their lead as Hagel would score
off of a goalie save in the 40:14 mark of the second half making the
score 2-1 in favor of the Red Hawks. Diana Colombo (Westampton, NJ / Rancocas Valley) would tally the third goal of the game in the 45:56 minute mark, while getting the assist on the last goal of the game by Justine DiPaolo (Lanoka Harbor, NJ / Lacey Township) at the 53:22 minute mark.
Montclair controlled the game statistically, outshooting King’s 11-2
and holding a 4-3 advantage in penalty corners. Red Hawks keeper Megan Bosland (Boonton, NJ / Boonton) recorded 63:03 minutes in net while not having to make a save. Erin McGinley posted two saves for the Monarchs.
The Red Hawks are back in action on the road on Wednesday, November 14 as they travel to Scranton for a 4:00 pm matchup with the Royals.
