Tweer Named NJAC Football Defensive Player of the Week

Montclair, NJ (10/18/09) —Senior linebacker Brian Tweer (Butler, NJ / Butler) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Sunday. Tweer becomes the second different Red Hawk to win Defensive Player honors this season and the fourth MSU player overall this season.

Tweer earned NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after contributing to Montclair’s 23-7 NJAC road win at Buffalo State. In a game in which the MSU defense held the Bengals to just 93 yards of total offense, he registered nine tackles, including 2.5 tackles for a loss, and two sacks for a loss of 13 yards. He also recorded a forced fumble and an interception in the Red Hawks’ fifth consecutive victory.

Tweer currently ranks tied for seventh in the NJAC in sacks (0.50 per game).
