The Red Hawks men recorded a 90-70 victory over the Highlanders while the women’s team scored an 85-54 triumph as each squad moved back to the .500 mark at 4-4 on the season.
Crossin helped the MSU women get off to a good start as she combined with Ashley Vallone (Park Ridge, NJ / Park Ridge), Laura Flynn (Andover, NJ / Lenape Valley) and Laura Spadoni (Nazareth, PA / Nazareth Area) for a victory in the 200 medley relay as the quartet clocked in a 2:01.49.
Crossin would get her individual win in the 100 freestyle (58.96) and also finished second in the 200 freestyle as she swam 2:11.70. Kelly Abner (Glenwood, NJ / Vernon) won that event with a time of 2:08.70. Allie Golden (Denville, NJ / Morris Knolls) picked up a victory in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.91 while Vallone led a 1-2-3 MSU finish in the 200 individual medley at 2:21.68.
Westerberg made it a sweep of the 200 IM for the Red Hawks as she won with a time of 2:07.94. Nikolas Lumkong (Andover, NJ / Pope John XXIII) was second (2:10.21) followed by Michael Adams (Wharton, NJ / Pope John XIII) at 2:15.76. Westerberg also took first in the 100 butterfly recording a winning time of 57.48.
Lacca’s victories came in the 100 freestyle (50.70) and 200 freestyle (1:55.70) as he too led a 1-2-3 Montclair State placing in the latter event. Thomas Long (Morristown, NJ / Morristown) won the 50 freestyle (23.01) and the 200 medley relay team of Sean Chambrovich (Allenhurst, NJ / Red Bank Regional), Chris Lee (Morris Plains, NJ / Parsippany Hills), Sean French (Cranford, NJ / Cranford) and Matt Hyde (Clifton, NJ / Clifton) took first as they posted a time of 1:47.45.
Both teams return to action on Saturday, January 23 as they face Rowan University in a 1:00 pm New Jersey Athletic Conference meet in Glassboro, NJ.
