Women's Indoor Track Qualifies Two for ECAC Championships
Junior Farida Jawando (Colts Neck, NJ / Monmouth Regional) placed second in the 800 meters at the DeSchriver meet and was the lead leg of the 4x200 relay as Montclair recorded several Top 10 finishes.
Patterson qualified for next month’s ECAC Championships at William Smith College as she posted a time of 9.50 in the 60 hurdles at the New Balance Invitational on Friday. The time was .12 better than the qualifying standard for the ECACs and will put her into the field for the 55 meter hurdle event when the meet is held March 5-6.
Also at the New Balance event, Judline Tumson (Newark, NJ / Arts) ran a time of 8.09 in the 60 meters missing out on an ECAC mark by .03 seconds. Katherine Tallaj (Paramus, NJ / Immaculate Heart) ran 10.06 in the 60 hurdles.
Two days later at the DeSchriver Invitational, Patterson and Jawando combined with Leah McClish (Old Bridge, NJ / Old Bridge) and Ashley Powell (Orange, NJ / Marylawn of the Oranges) to finish fourth in the 4x200 meter. The quartet posted a time of 1:50.14 which will send them to the ECAC Championships.
Jawando was second in the 800 meters as she recorded a time of 2:23.27 and Tumson was fourth the 55 meters (7.48) and third in the 200 meters (27.06). Sara Douma (West Milford, NJ / West Milford) placed seventh in the triple jump (10.23) meters with Evelyn Sha (East Brunswick, NJ / East Brunswick) finishing 13th in the event at 9.82 meters.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Patterson, McClish, Laura Florez (Hackensack, NJ / Immaculate Heart) and Jawando was fifth with a time of 4:11.54.
Sha and Nicole Galipo (Clarksburg, NJ / Allentown) were 11th and 16th, respectively in the high jump at 1.47 and 1.42 meters.
The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, February 13 as they take part in the CTC Indoor Championships which will be held at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.
