Montclair, NJ (4/12/10) - Junior Ashley Krzysik (Landing, NJ / Roxbury) and freshman Kailee Beal (Succasunna, NJ / Roxbury) each collected honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference on Monday as they were named the Defensive and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Krzysik was also named the ECAC Metro/South Defensive Player of the Week as well.
Krzysik collects her second NJAC honor this
season as she was also chosen back on march 22. For Beal, she earns
Rookie of the Week honors for the second consecutive week. Last Monday
she was picked for the same honor from the Skyline Conference.
Both played key roles in helping Montclair State runs its current
winning streak to six games. The Red Hawks (7-3) posted a pair
convincing victories last week as they downed Kean University 15-4 and
New York Maritime, 18-3. The wins kept MSU unbeaten in both the NJAC
and Skyline Conference at 3-0 and 5-0, respectively.
Krzysik led a Montclair State defensive unit that allowed just seven goals and 19 shots in the victories. She had a draw, three ground balls and three caused turnovers as MSU limited Kean to just 11 shots in the 15-4 win. Krzysik then posted three draws, two ground balls and a caused turnover as Montclair completed the week with its road at NY Maritime.
Beal scored three times against Kean and then added two goals and an assist as the Red Hawks scored the first 13 goals in the triumph at Maritime.
