Delfini, Quigley Earn Offensive, Defensive Weekly Honors From NJAC

Montclair, NJ (5/3/10) - Sophomore midfielder Cora Delfini (New Egypt, NJ / New Egypt) and junior defender Kristin Quigley (Mount Laurel, NJ / Lenape) were honored on Monday as the two were named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

It marks the third time this season that Montclair has won the offensive and defensive weekly accolade. For Delfini it is her second as she also won the honors on March 8. Quigley earns her first weekly honor.

Delfini earns NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after registering 11 goals and two assists for 13 points in a 2-0 week of play for the Red Hawks. She opened the week by tallying five goals and one assist for six points, while garnering two draw controls and one ground ball in a 20-9 win over NJAC rival Kean. She wrapped up the week by collecting six goals and one assist for seven points, while adding five draw controls and two ground balls in a 17-6 win over NJAC rival Ramapo.

Delfini currently ranks fifth in the NJAC in points per game (3.88).

Quigley becomes the second different Red Hawk to earn NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping limit two NJAC opponents to a combined 15 goals on just 32 shots in pair of wins for MSU. She opened the week by notching two draw controls, three ground balls, and one caused turnover while limiting the Cougars to just nine goals in MSU’s 20-9 win over Kean. She wrapped up the week by collecting three draw controls and four ground balls while limiting the Roadrunners to just six goals in the Red Hawks’ 17-6 victory over Ramapo.

Quigley is a key member of a Montclair State defense that currently leads the NJAC in team goals against average (7.06).
